Derek Casey has built a distinguished career in the ready-mixed concrete market in London. In 1992, he became Managing Director of Pioneer Concrete, a major supplier in the region. Five years later, in 1997, Derek founded London Concrete, which rapidly grew into a leading company in the industry. Within just 10 years, London Concrete expanded to 12 plants and nearly 100 mixer trucks, supplying over 1 million m³ of concrete annually.
Under his leadership, London Concrete played a pivotal role in several iconic projects in London, including The Shard, the new GLA office, Terminal 2 at Heathrow, and various major contracts for the Crossrail project. Additionally, the company was the sole supplier for the 2012 Olympic Games.
After the merger of Holcim and Lafarge, Derek chose to retire early to explore new opportunities. He later joined forces with the Cappagh Group, entering a partnership with his brother Chris to further contribute to the construction industry.
Managing Director
Chris has been a prominent figure in the ready-mixed concrete industry since 1979. He began his career at Willment Concrete as a plant operative, and after a few years, transitioned to the sales side of the business. When Pioneer Concrete acquired Willment in 1992, Chris was promoted to Area Sales Manager, where he was responsible for managing the busy South London market.
In 1999, Chris joined London Concrete as Group Sales Manager. As the company grew, so did his responsibilities, leading to his promotion to Sales Director. In 2015, Chris left London Concrete to establish Express Concrete in partnership with the Cappagh Group. Drawing on his extensive experience in the concrete industry, Chris was appointed Managing Director of the new venture, where he continues to lead the company with a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
Transport & Production Director
Gary has dedicated his career to the ready-mixed concrete industry. He began his journey at Marcon Concrete as a plant operative, and after Tarmac acquired the company in the late 1980s, he was promoted to Manager of the Central Shipping Office.
In 1998, Gary joined London Concrete as Manager of their Bow concrete plant, with a focus on expanding their business in the City and London markets. Under his leadership, the Bow plant quickly became the highest production unit in the UK for the company.
Gary joined Express Concrete in April 2017 as Transport and Production Director. With vast experience in all plant-related matters and managing large vehicle fleets, Gary brings a wealth of expertise to his role. He also holds a Certificate of Professional Competence, further solidifying his qualifications in the industry.
Commercial Director
After completing his degree at Loughborough University, Tom began his career in the construction industry, initially working as an Estimating Manager for a fit-out and refurbishment contractor. He later gained valuable project management experience with the same company, overseeing projects and ensuring they were completed on time and within budget.
In 2012, Tom joined London Concrete as an Internal Sales Representative, where he honed his product knowledge and customer sales skills. A year later, he was promoted to Area Sales Manager for North and West London. During his time in this role, Tom achieved record production volumes for both his concrete plants and contributed to major developments, including the Wembley regeneration, Beaufort Park, Millbrook Park, and Old Oak Common. This experience allowed him to fully understand the challenges of supplying large volumes of concrete to the congested London market while meeting the high expectations of customers.
Tom joined Express Concrete in August 2019 as Head of Commercial Development. Over the next three years, he played a key role in expanding the business’s customer base and establishing a strong market presence. In July 2022, Tom was promoted to Commercial Director, continuing to drive the growth and success of the company.
Commercial Manager for Chessington
Jake joined Express Concrete in 2022 as an Internal Sales Representative. Quickly demonstrating his skills and leadership potential, he progressed to the role of Office/Commercial Manager. In this position, Jake took on the responsibility of leading a brand-new plant in Chessington while overseeing the internal sales team in the office. His efforts have been instrumental in helping the company integrate new technologies, ensuring Express Concrete stays ahead of the curve and continues to evolve and thrive in a competitive market. Looking ahead, Jake is excited about the continued development of the company and his progression within it.
Commercial Manager for Wembley
Ben joined Express Concrete as Commercial Manager in the summer of 2024, bringing with him over eight years of extensive commercial experience in the construction industry. His career includes roles at leading companies such as Cemex UK Materials and Sika Ltd, where he served as Area Sales Manager for London and the South East.
Throughout his career, Ben has developed a deep understanding of the technical and practical aspects of concrete technology, including mix design optimization, quality control processes, and the effective use of admixtures to enhance concrete performance. He has worked with high-performance concrete solutions for a diverse range of projects, from residential and commercial builds to large-scale infrastructure developments.

Commercial Manager for Barking/Erith
Ollie graduated from Loughborough University and initially embarked on a career in the cybersecurity sector, joining SecureData (now Orange Cyberdefense). Starting in internal sales, he quickly advanced to account management, where he oversaw large infrastructure projects across both the public and private sectors.
An exciting opportunity then led Ollie to transition into the entertainment industry, where he worked as a Tour Manager for comedian Henning Wehn and later as an International Tour Coordinator for Live Nation.
In 2024, Ollie returned to the business world, joining Express Concrete as a Commercial Manager to support the company’s growth and development. His diverse background in sales, project management, and coordination brings a unique perspective to his role at Express Concrete.
Sales Administrator
Dermot joined the team just under a year ago, bringing experience from various fields. Since joining Express Concrete, he has played a key role in accounts and sales administration, contributing to the smooth operation and growth of the business. He has implemented new processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Dermot’s commitment to leveraging new technologies and his dedication to continuous professional development have made him a valuable asset to the team. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Galway, further enhancing his expertise in business operations..
Internal Sales Manager
Meric Martin joined Express Concrete in June 2024, bringing valuable sales experience, including a background in the home security industry in South Africa. As Internal Sales Manager, he is focused on optimizing sales processes and driving growth while ensuring exceptional service for clients. Meric is excited about the company’s future and the opportunities for professional development within its rapidly expanding business.
Technical Manager
John joined the construction industry straight from sixth form in 2015, working for Heidelberg Materials UK (formerly Hanson UK) on a higher apprenticeship in concrete technical. After two years working in the South-West, he moved to London and on completion of the apprenticeship was promoted to Area Technical Manager. During the next 7 years John was the Technical Manager for a number of concrete plants across London and contributed to successful major projects with Heidelberg Materials such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel and the Silvertown Tunnel, alongside earning a BSc (Hons) in Minerals Management at Derby University. John joined us in February 2024 to head up our technical department.
Finance Manager
David graduated from Goldsmiths College in South East London and earned his accounting qualification while working for a local civil engineering company over 20 years ago. His expertise in numbers, financial software, and construction industry processes laid a strong foundation for his career. He later expanded his skills in transport and facilities management, where he grew teams, upgraded systems, and managed long-term projects.
Now back in his preferred field, David joined Express Concrete in 2024, excited to work in a positive, team-oriented environment and share his accounting and technical experience with the company.
Accounts Manager
Webster has over 15 years’ experience in Accounts and Finance, having worked previously for a firm of Charted Accountants, a Charitable Housing Association and Construction Industry.
Has obtained a degree in BSc (Hons) Accounting and Business Management and brings to us a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience.
Webster joined Express Concrete from the Cappagh Group in August 2024 as Accounts Manager.
